As part of the master knitter program, you also get to design a hat. Here is the one I finished, after many trials and errors.
A triplet of cables goes up each side
The top has a diamond pattern surrounded by waves and bobbles.
The back has a classic celtic braid.
Let me know what you think!

I love your hat, and hope you'll consider selling the pattern. Do let us know! I found you through the Aran knitter's list, by the way.
oh my goodness. what a beautiful hat. i wonder how it would look in tweed for a man? that's the style my son wears and i know he would love this hat. the hat is fab! good luck and i hope you do well. if the hat is any indication, then you will. again, beautiful.

I think it's cool! Or hot - whatever the appropriate descriptive-du-jour is! LOL
I'm not a golf-fashion aficionado, but I'd wear it.
WOW! That's an amazing design. I don't like bobbles, but yours are perfect for the design and look great. They are the best use of bobbles I've ever seen. And the rest of the pattern is so well integrated it is, well, a WOW. I've always been interested in the Master Knitter program. You are indeed a Master Knitter! Suzan (without a Google account)
Thanks Debbi! I am selling the pattern through a company my sister and I just started. We are working out the kinks, and have a new website, www.FiberRhythm.com
Right now I have the pattern in just one size, so if you need another size, let me know.

Well, that's just one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Did you put in a stabilizer for the brim? It's just beautiful.
re: "i wonder how it would look in tweed for a man?"
I'm glad you asked that. I would have naturally chosen a tweed yarn, as I love the look, but I had to do a non-tweed for the Knitting program. It is easier for the reviewers.
The cap only takes 2 skeins of yarn, so doesn't take too long to knit.
Thanks Wannietta! That's what I was hoping for, people would want to wear it. I was just in Toronto by the way--but too busy with work to get to any of the knitting shops. So sad.
Suzan, I feel the same about bobbles. I just don't like those little puffs sticking up all on their own in knitting. Hmmm, wonder what that says about me? But I do like them when they are cuddled up to a wavy cable and thats what I did. Plus I limited the number of them.
Fig, yes, I did put a stabilizer in the brim. I actually used a cut out from some plastic needlepoint canvas. Then really stretch the knitted fabric over that part. There are probably real brim parts you could buy, but this worked for me.
That is a great hat! Perfect combination of Aran knitting and a "golf" hat.
What a wonderful design!
What a kewl cap!! I LOVE the patterns you have used.
Wow! What a great idea!
Beautiful hat Dawn, and I love the design in every way. I will definitely be looking to buy your pattern too.
Wow, what a beautiful design. Are you considering selling the design - I'm not into golf, but LOVE your hat!
Thanks to everyone for the great comments! Its been a lot of fun and very busy! Yes, I am selling the pattern. From my sister and my website www.fiberrhythm.com. (There is a link on my blog links section). I'm working on a shopping cart for the business, but right now everything is through email...
Is your pattern available for purchase? This is exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks, K
An Update. I am still selling the pattern on my website. The direct link is http://shop.fiberrhythm.com/zencart/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=5
I am also selling a version very much the same that uses a heavier worsted weight wool. (Aran Golf Cap II).
There is a third golf cap which does not include the cables, and just uses the Fabric Stitch.
Enjoy!
